Vardy scored twice against Liverpool in Tuesday’s smash-and-grab 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium, which as recently as last May provided free beer for LCFC fans for being LCFC fans. That was after the Foxes scraped through with a furious finish to narrowly avoid relegation in their first season back up. Now that the table looks like this, they might be buying everyone handles of vodka by this May.
Leicester City will have, at the very least, a three-point hold on first with 14 match days left to go. There’s plenty of time to lose that purchase, of course, but who would’ve guessed Leicester City would’ve lost just two of their first 24 games? Does that even make sense, what I just typed? Is that in Ademic (My Kingkiller Chronicle bros raise up).
Anyway, Tuesday’s Leicester v. Klopp battle was fascinating because both teams run their midfielders very fast and are not afraid of pushing balls back to front in an instant. The difference? Leicester City had Jamie Vardy.
Just watch this and try not to melt into oblivion as the camera shakes.
That is so impossibly good and so damn Leicester. A cutting 40-yard long ball and one touch off the bounce leads to a world-classer. Blink and you missed it.
Vardy wasn’t done. His second was impressive, but for other more positional reasons. Once again, the goal begins from a long ball and ends with Vardy doing Vardian things.
Have you ever considered that Jamie Vardy is the English Chris Wondolowski on another, (vastly) more successful timeline? I’ll leave you with that brain-melder as I traipse off to make my french fry sword for this knighthood ceremony.
