Just like heroes from wars in years past, the ‘Michael Jackson’ and shining star of the North, Fancy Gadam was given a heroic welcome by his own in Tamale after chalking success in the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Fancy Gadam who beat stiff competition from several others including Medikal, Nii Funny, Article Wan, Feli Nuna, Ebony, Rudebwoy Ranking and Ghanaian born UK based Eugy to win the Best New Artist of the year was welcomed by a large number of people mostly riding motorbikes (popular means of transport in the Northern Region) as others looked from a distance and cheered him on.
A study of the voting results released by Charterhouse, organizers of the awards scheme as collated by world renowned auditing firm KPMG, shows the category was keenly fought for by Fancy Gadam and Medikal.
However, Fancy Gadam had an edge as he pulled 45.44% of the total votes as opposed to 42.05% secured by Medikal.
This is not the first time Fancy Gadam has won in such a category over Medikal.
In 2016, Fancy Gadam beat Medikal and several others to win the best new act at the annual Jigwe Awards organized by television outfit Viasat 1 now known as Kwese Sports.
