Former Ghana Black Star striker George Arthur is dead

george arthurGeorge Arthur, an ex Ghana Black Star player is dead. He died of cardiac arrest at the Sunyani Government Hospital today, Sunday the 14th of June 2015.

The former Black Stars striker was playing a game of draughts with friends when he collapsed all of a sudden. He was then rushed to the hospital, but died before doctors could assist save him, a family source confirmed to MyJoyOnline.

King George Arthur, as he was affectionately called during his playing days, joined the Kumasi Asante Kotoko team in the 1980’s from Brong Ahafo United before he moved to Al Ahly.

He is remembered by Kotoko faithful for scoring a brace in 1987 against their archrivals, Hearts of Oak in 1987 in a league game at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra.

The striker was also part of the Black Stars team in the late 1980’s.

George Arthur later assumed administrative position as the CEO of B.A United.
