4The four time World Footballer of the Year, Lionel Messi is the highest-paid footballer in the world. He was taking home nearly $1.4million-a-week last year in wages and sponsorship deals.

He made about $38million as his club salary and the rest were from lucrative endorsements with the likes of Adidas, FIFA 15 and Turkish Airlines.

All this makes him (Messi) richer than his arch-rival, Cristiano Ronaldo who brought in about $60million in 2014. This is according to the latest France Football magazine rich list.
