CAF Elections: I'll leave office when my time is due – Nyantakyi

The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Ntantakyi said he does not need to be pushed out as president of the GFA. He added that he will relinquish his Ghana FA position when the time is due.

The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Ntantakyi has said that everyone in any leadership position of a kind must learn from the defeat of the former president of CAF Issa Hayatou.

He was speaking to the press after he arrived from Ethiopia.

The newly elected FIFA Council member, Kwesi Nyantakyi, said he believes Hayatou’s defeat “is a lesson we should all learn when you [are] in leadership, a time will come that you have to move if you don’t move on you will be moved away; all of us including me. A time will come a strong wind will move you away.”

He added that he does not need to be pushed out as president of the GFA. He added that he will relinquish his Ghana FA position when the time is due.

He has therefore called on his critics not to push him out through the media.

Nyantakyi played a key role in the victory of Madagascar’s Ahmad Ahmad as the new president of CAF.

Ahmad Ahmad won the election to end Hayatou’s 29 years reign as president of CAF in Addis Ababa last Thursday. The Madagascan polled 34 votes with Hayatou securing 20 votes.
