Black Stars striker and captain, Asamoah ‘Baby Jet’ Gyan is paying for and overseeing the construction of a top drawer football field at the Accra Academy Senior High School.
The pitch will boast an AstroTurf and Asamoah Gyan is expected to distribute appropriate football boots to the school for the players to use on the pitch upon completion.
The 2010 BBC African Footballer of the year is a former student of the school and is giving back to the school which taught him. The project is expected to exceed the five months intended to complete it.
The reason for that is to ensure the quality of the pitch. The facility is expected to be used by Accra Academy and also the National Teams.
The pitch itself is 80% complete but there are other things to be done and that will take some time. Maintenance culture will be in place according to officials of Accra Academy.
